Month 4 (December): Decisions and Direction

December brought a different kind of focus.
It included my last work trip of the year, alongside the usual Christmas travel and commitments that have a habit of pulling you away from any kind of routine. Training still happened, but it required more flexibility and less expectation that things would look perfect week to week.

One of the most positive developments this month was confirming ISPCC as the charity partner for the Everest climb. That felt important. Being able to connect this journey to a cause that genuinely matters gives the whole project more meaning and responsibility — and it’s something I’m proud to support.
December also brought one of the biggest decisions I’ve had to make so far.
After a lot of thought, I made the move from attempting Everest via the north side to joining a south side team. Cost was a significant factor in that decision — it’s important to be realistic about what’s sustainable — but it wasn’t the only consideration.
I’ll now be climbing as part of a strong Irish team, and that feels right. There’s something grounding about being part of a group with shared context, shared ambition, and a shared understanding of what this means.
December was less about volume and more about clarity. Making decisions that made sense, letting go of paths that didn’t, and committing fully to what’s ahead.
I finished the year feeling clear on direction — and ready to focus on execution.
