Month 2 (October): Finding Rhythm in the Chaos

If month one was about building the foundation, month two has been about finding rhythm — learning to balance training, travel, work, and the ever-growing world of social media that now sits alongside it all.

After recovering from my DNF, I finally got back into training properly after nearly two weeks off. It’s amazing how quickly your body remembers what to do once your mind gets back in the right place. The legs might have felt heavy to start, but the discipline is returning — and with it, that feeling of forward momentum.


Growth and Criticism: The Reality of Being Online

One of the biggest surprises this month has been how much social media has grown. Each week, more people are following along, engaging, and sending messages. That’s incredibly motivating — but it also brings a new dynamic.

With more visibility comes more criticism, and I’ve started to see that side of things too. I don’t mind critical feedback — in fact, I often welcome it. It can be useful, it can sharpen your thinking, and sometimes it even pushes you to do better.


What I do find interesting, though, is how easy it is for faceless accounts to throw opinions out into the world without context or consequence. It’s something I’m learning to manage — to focus on what matters, take what’s constructive, and let the rest pass.


I remind myself that this entire project is about authenticity. I’m not trying to pretend I’m something I’m not — I’m a normal person with a full-time job, a passion for the outdoors, and a goal that’s testing every part of me. That’s the story I want to tell, even when it’s uncomfortable.


Structure: The Backbone of Progress


If there’s one thing that’s saved me this month, it’s structure. Between travel, work, and content creation, I’ve had to become borderline obsessive about planning.

Sunday mornings have turned into my reset time — I map out the week, schedule training, draft content, and set my focus. It’s the only way to stay on top of everything without losing my sanity. Despite how much I am perturbed by the fact I yet again spend so much time on my phones.


I’ve also been making a conscious effort to finish work at a reasonable time. That small shift has made a huge difference. It’s allowed me to train properly again and feel like I’m not constantly chasing the day although given my tuesday evenings involve leaving the laptop to go hike the local mountain with a heavy back pack, it doesn't exactly get easier.


The reality is, climbing Everest isn’t just about showing up and hiking. There’s the physical side, yes, but also the communication, planning, and storytelling that come with sharing it publicly. Each piece takes time and energy — and structure is what keeps it all moving in the right direction.


Bringing the Mountain into My Work


This month I also started posting on LinkedIn, sharing what endurance sports and mountaineering have taught me about leadership and mindset at work.

Things like:

  • The power of consistency over motivation.

  • The importance of disconnecting to get perspective.

  • And the value of showing up, even when it’s uncomfortable.

It’s been rewarding to see those posts resonate with people who might never climb a mountain, but face their own “Everests” in business and in life.


Authenticity, Alignment, and the Road Ahead


One of the trickier parts right now has been reaching out to sponsors. It’s a challenge — not just in finding the right partners, but in staying authentic through the process. I’m not trying to sell a fantasy. I want partners who believe in the same principles that drive this whole project: effort, integrity, and purpose.

Even when progress feels slow, I keep reminding myself that this is part of the journey too — building something real takes time.


Month two has been a test in balance. Between airports, meetings, training sessions, and screen time, it’s easy to lose focus. But momentum is returning, the structure is working, and the vision feels clearer than ever.
